There is gap beginning to appear between Punjab and post-season places. Skipper Lokesh Rahul will not want that margin to increase over the next week, leaving him and his team-mates with an uphill challenge to climb back into the competition.
Rahul has been outstanding alongside Mayank Agarwal, and Kings XI will need them more than ever in this contest. Their bowlers have to come to the fore more than anyone else after allowing the Super Kings to stroll to a 10-wicket win last week.
The Knight Riders were excellent last time out to fend off the Super Kings. Rahul Tripathi’s knock of 81 set a competitive total of 167. A disciplined bowling effort was required, and the Kolkata bowlers performed admirably led by Pat Cummins.
Expect a stronger performance with the bat next time out from the Knight Riders as Shubman Gill was quiet against Chennai. They should have the strength to see off Kings XI and they’re our cricket tip of the week to win the contest and continue their good form.

Week three was up-and-down for the Super Kings. They were impressive to see off Punjab by 10 wickets, but they failed to chase a 168 to beat Kolkata last time out. MS Dhoni’s men have had issues with consistency and there is a little bit of pressure starting to build when you look at the Indian Premier League standings.
Faf du Plessis has been their standout at the top of the order, while Shane Watson has been back to his best in the last two matches. Their batting line-up looks short on depth and it may need tweaking to keep the burden off the openers.
RCB ran into the form team of the tournament last time out, losing by 59 runs to Delhi Capitals. Virat Kohli has found his touch with the bat, but even he was powerless to prevent his team from falling to defeat. They were beaten by the better side, and had an off day with the ball.
There is more to come from Bangalore and they should bounce back with a win over Chennai.

Sunrisers have been a tad underwhelming in the tournament under new head coach Trevor Bayliss, although it may take time for the Aussie to get his side into gear.
David Warner and Jonny Bairstow have been solid at the top of the order along with Manish Pandey. Hyderabad’s issues have come in their bowling attack. Outside of Rashid Khan, no one that has played consistently has an average under 30. That has to improve for Sunrisers to beat Rajasthan Royals.
Jos Buttler sparked into life with an innings of 70 in Rajasthan’s defeat to Mumbai. He had struggled in the opening matches of the competition, but the England man may well have found his form. It would be a big boost for the Royals, who could also welcome back Ben Stokes.
Jofra Archer has been excellent with the ball, but the only support has come from Rahul Tewatia. Unless that changes, Rajasthan are on the road to nowhere this season. However, we give them the edge on this one to beat out Sunrisers due to the talent in the batting ranks.

The game of the week and perhaps a foreshadowing of the IPL 2020 Final. Mumbai have found their form after a slow start to the competition.
Their bowling attack is beginning to fire on all cylinders, with Trent Boult, James Pattinson and Jasprit Bumrah leading the way. All three bowlers feature in the top five of the wicket standings at the moment.
Rohit Sharma is leading from the front with the bat, while Suryakumar Yadav has also been impressive. Kieron Pollard’s late onslaughts have been worth their weight in gold.
Delhi are perhaps the only team to match the defending champions. They appear to have the balance of their line-up just right. Kagiso Rabada has been incredible with the ball in hand and Anrich Nortje has also been on point.
Shreyas Iyer’s men have the look of a team destined for the final. They have an opportunity to make a huge statement by knocking off the defending champions. We back them to pull it off due to the all-round quality of their side.

This could be another preview of a post-season contest. Kohli’s men have not been in contention for the IPL crown for a long time and this will be a test to see whether they are capable of overcoming a side of a similar calibre.
RCB’s batting ranks are stacked with talent and there is surely fireworks to come from them sooner rather than later. Yuzvendra Chahal has led the charge with the ball, but there has been no consistency outside of his performances from the Bangalore bowlers.
Kohli’s men have a poor record against Kolkata of late, losing five out of their last six matches. They did win the last game by 10 runs in a close contest courtesy of a century from the skipper.
The Knight Riders will need Eoin Morgan, Gill and Tripathi at their best to pull off the victory. If they can contain Kohli, their bowlers led by Cummins should give them the edge to close out the win. It will be a close one.
