Week five of the 2020 Indian Premier League season rocked the standings.
It’s thrown the race for the post-season wide-open as we head towards the end of the campaign.
Kings XI Punjab upset both Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals and have given themselves genuine hope of making a late surge for the playoffs.
Royal Challengers Bangalore now appear to be the side to beat, after crushing Kolkata Knight Riders in their clash.
Rajasthan Royals also dragged themselves off the canvas to defeat Chennai Super Kings but then lost to the Sunrisers.
The race for the top four will only intensify in week six. We break down the first five games of the week and give our tips here:

Bangalore blew Kolkata away in their last outing as KKR could only manage 84 runs from their 20 overs after being restricted by outstanding bowling from Mohammed Siraj. Bangalore then knocked off the winning runs with ease, leaving Eoin Morgan and his team battling for the fourth spot in the table.
Only Morgan performed with the bat against RCB, putting pressure on Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi among others to bounce back. There was little the bowlers could do to help their side, but Lockie Ferguson once again highlighted his talent. The Knight Riders will need a team effort against a quality Delhi team.
Capitals’ batsman, Shikhar Dhawan, became the first player in IPL history to score back-to-back centuries. He followed up his effort against Chennai with another ton against Kings XI, although the latter was in vain as they slipped to a five-wicket defeat.
Tushar Deshpande had a day to forget with the ball, conceding 41 runs from his two overs. Delhi’s usually potent attack could not defend 165 amid an onslaught from Nicholas Pooran.
The Capitals are too talented to allow one bad outing to halt their charge for the post-season. Expect Shreyas Iyer to lead a response from his team. The Delhi Capitals are our cricket tip of the week to take the win.
Delhi Capitals To Beat Kolkata Knight Riders – 1.66 bet365
Out of nowhere Kings XI Punjab have exploded into life. Lokesh Rahul and Mayank Agarwal have finally received the support they were looking for from the rest of the team. Pooran and Chris Gayle were excellent in the win over the Capitals, while Rahul himself was outstanding to defeat the Indians and RCB, taking a dominant lead in the race for the Orange Cap.
Punjab have beaten the top three sides in the competition in their last three matches. Rahul’s men are on the charge for the post-season, and based on their current form, it’s hard not to back them.
Even the bowling attack has shown signs of life outside of the impressive Mohammed Shami. Look for Punjab to make another statement to put pressure on the IPL top four.
Sunrisers have not been on form throughout the competition. Heading into their 10th match, they had lost three on the bounce, including a Super Over defeat to Kolkata. Hyderabad have failed to find any consistency from their bowlers. Their batting has been solid, but not good enough to carry the team. We expect another loss for them here.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are on the charge and look like a team capable of pushing all the way to the IPL final. Mohammed Siraj was exceptional against Kolkata, becoming the first bowler to record two maidens in a game in IPL history, claiming figures of 3-8 in the process.
Virat Kohli’s men have won four out of their last five matches. The skipper has been in imperious form, along with AB de Villiers. Boasting two of the most destructive players in T20 history at the peak of their powers is a good omen for Bangalore.
Siraj’s display was even more pleasing for RCB as it gives them another option outside of Chris Morris and Yuzvendra Chahal. It’s all clicking into gear for the Bangalore franchise, and another win here will edge them closer to the post-season.
The Super Kings are all but done in the campaign. They have not looked right since beating Mumbai in their opener. MS Dhoni’s men have lacked consistency on both sides of the ball which has resulted in their struggles.
Playing a rampant RCB will not aid their cause, therefore back Bangalore to claim the victory in this one.

After a slow start to the competition, Jos Buttler has stepped up for Rajasthan, smashing a match-winning knock of 70 to help defeat the Super Kings. To reach the post-season the Royals need Buttler at his best, and he was certainly on point to notch his half-century.
The England man dropped down the order to number five and they required him to counterpunch along with Steve Smith after the Royals lost three early wickets. Rajasthan are still not playing perfect cricket, but with their star men finding their form, there could be hope for them down the stretch.
Mumbai’s planning for the post-season took a hit in their defeat to Punjab. They had won five matches in a row before the defeat and were seemingly rolling towards the playoffs without any issues. A reality check may be the best thing for the Indians in the long term. However, the Royals will present a tough challenge.
Heading into the campaign, Rohit Sharma’s men had lost four-straight games to Rajasthan. They ended that run earlier in the term with a dominant 57-run win. Against the star power of the Royals, only Mumbai’s best will be good enough, but we expect them to get the victory.
Mumbai Indians To Beat Rajasthan Royals – 1.715 1xBet
This contest will have major significance in the battle for a post-season berth. Punjab are trending upwards and have match-winners throughout their top order in the form of Rahul, Agarwal, Gayle and Pooran.
Kolkata are struggling to get consistent performances out of their batsmen, putting pressure on Eoin Morgan in the middle order. Pat Cummins has been underwhelming after signing the most lucrative overseas deal in the IPL’s history. The Knight Riders will need more from the Aussie to qualify for the playoffs.
Recent history is on Kolkata’s side, as they’ve won the last four meetings between the teams. The Knight Riders edged out Punjab by two runs in their clash earlier in the campaign, but Kings XI are a different team now from the side they were at the beginning of October.
They are playing excellent cricket and have the batting line-up to blow away most teams. The Kings XI will edge this contest on the quality of their batsmen.
