# Indonesian Odds

Although there are no betting shops in Indonesia, those who wish to bet on sports have been able to do so via local agents or through online bookmakers hosted in other countries. This has led to the use of specific odds for those living in Indonesia called Indo – or Indonesian – odds.

Indo odds are very much like US Moneyline odds in terms of being expressed as either positive or negative and set against a base unit. The difference is that Indo odds are based on 1.00 unit stakes rather than US odds which are based on a 100.00 stake, which means that Indo odds are expressed as a decimal. For positive figures, the Indo odds show how much profit you will win on a 1 unit stake and for negative figures, Indo odds indicate how much needs to be staked to make a profit of 1 unit.

With Indo odds, even money is quoted as 1.00, meaning that you would make 1 unit profit for every 1 unit staked. Positive odds have a probability of under 50% and represent the underdog, meaning that your profit will be greater than the stake should the bet win – for example, Indo odds of 1.55 indicate that you would make a profit of 1.55 units for every 1 unit staked, so if you bet £10.00 on Indo odds of 1.55, you would make a return of £25.50 made up of a profit of £15.50 and the £10.00 original stake. Negative figures have a probability of over 50% and represent the favourite, meaning that your stake will be more than your profit if the bet wins – for example, Indo odds of -3.00 show that you would need to stake 3 units to make a profit of 1 unit. If you were to bet £10.00 on Indo odds of -3.00, you would make a profit of £3.33 on top of your initial stake of £10.00.

On most online betting websites, there is a feature which allows the bettor to switch between the different odds formats. If you don’t want to use Indo odds, then it is easy to change this to a different format either through the account settings or when looking at the bets on the website. This means than the calculation is done automatically via the bookmakers which eliminates any errors in conversion and takes the hassle away from converting manually.

Should you wish to convert Indo odds to US odds, simply multiply the Indo odds by 100 – for example, Indo odds of 1.23 is the same as US odds of 123, and Indo odds of -3.24 is the same as US odds of -324. Should you wish to covert Indo odds to Decimal odds for positive odds, just add 1, for example, Indo odds of 5.21 is the same as Decimal odds of 6.21. To convert negative Indo odds to decimal odds, divide 1 by the Indo odds and add 1 to the result – for example, Indo odds of -2.60 is the same as 1.38, which is derived from the equation (1 + (1 / 2.60)).

### Indonesian Odds Formula

**Where the odds are positive:**

Stake x Odds = Profit

**Where the odds are negative:**

Stake / Odds = Profit

### Indonesian Odds Examples

1) In football, if Brazil play Germany and the odds of Over 2.5 goals is -1.25 and you stake £75.00 on there being three or more goals in the game:

£75.00 stake / 1.25 odds = £60.00 profit

You would make £60.00 profit if there are Over 2.5 goals, in addition to receiving your initial stake of £75.00 back, to make a total return of £135.00.

2) In cricket, if England are favourites at odds of -1.25 to beat Sri Lanka who are underdogs at 1.00 and you stake $250.00 on Sri Lanka to win:

$250.00 stake x 1.00 odds = $250.00 profit

You would make $250.00 profit if Sri Lanka win, in addition to receiving your initial stake of $250.00 back, to make a total return of $500.00.

3) In basketball, if Detroit Pistons play Chicago Bulls and you bet €70.00 on Under 206 points at odds of 1.35:

€70.00 stake x 1.35 odds = €94.50 profit

You would make €94.50 profit if the points total is Under 206, in addition to receiving your initial stake of €70.00 back, to make a total return of €164.50.
